The Posteggia is an ancient and noble art, born centuries ago from storytellers who moved from table to table, performing tales of love, betrayal, and passion. Even the great Capurro, author of the immortal "’O Sole Mio," was a posteggiatore.

Vittorio Paliotti traces the origins of Neapolitan song back to ancient myth. Legend tells of a siren named Parthenope who, heartbroken after Ulysses resisted her song, died along the Tyrrhenian coast. The city founded there took her name, Parthenope, before eventually becoming Naples.
